The paper reviews the literature on the thermal regime and circulation of the atmosphere of Jupiter. Speculation regarding the origin of the color shades of Jupiter is reviewed, spectral measurements of the radiation of Jupiter are studied, and attempts at reconstructing Jupiter temperature profiles are examined. The cloud cover characteristics of Jupiter are described, and characterizations of the zones of Jupiter are given. The principal mechanisms in the atmospheric circulation on Jupiter are discussed.
