The paper reports new multicolor, linear polarization measurements of a large portion of the Herbig Ae/Be stars, including several which have not been previously observed. For some of the objects, multiaperture measurements and observations of nearby stars are used to determine the importance of nebular and interstellar polarization. Where the origin of the intrinsic component can be ascertained, circumstellar or nebular dust appears to be the primary polarizing agent. A large fraction of the Ae/Be stars are found to be polarimetrically variable. It is suggested that further polarization studies of these objects concentrate on those stars least affected by surrounding nebulosity and on attempts to correlate polarization characteristics with other observable stellar properties.
