The optical and radio spectrum of the eclipsing binary RY Scuti is analyzed in detail and shown to be very well fitted by a simple density-bounded H II region model. Several parameters of the system are deduced, and it is shown that the binary probably consists of a B0 V primary transferring mass to a hot (about 05.5 V) secondary. Further observations are suggested.
