From star counts on 5 infrared sensitive plates taken with the Tonantzintla Schmidt camera in the region of the Orion Nebula, the existence of 4 clusterings probably related to each other forming a chain is clearly revealed. Three of these clusterings are enveloped in bright nebulosities. The most conspicuous in richness and extent is the Orion Nebula Cluster which shows a strong concentration of bright early-type stars towards its center. The cluster has a total diameter of 30" and contains, up to the infrared magnitude of 16.0, at least 467 stars.
