The three-hour periodic variation in the nova V1500 Cyg is investigated in spectrograms obtained during the initial decline and up to 10 months after outburst. A searchlight-type model is proposed to explain the data, in contrast to the model of Campbell (1976). A model for the nebula is proposed from line-profile considerations and discussed in terms of short-period variations. The Fe II and H-beta lines show different behavior.
