The existence of nonlinear traveling density waves in a model of a stellar system with constant phase density is demonstrated. The amplitude dependence of wavelength is determined in a comoving coordinate system. It is shown that the existence region of nonlinear traveling waves decreases with increasing phase velocity and that a traveling wave does not decay into individual bunches, as does a standing wave. However, the nonlinear traveling wave is found to be unstable with respect to wave partition into packets as well as to self-contraction of wave packets.
