The main thrust of the proposal is to investigate mechanisms by which young binary stars interact with disks formed from relics of the star formation process. These binary/disk interactions affect both the evolution of the disks and the binary. The effects of such interactions have been analyzed by using both analytical methods and numerical simulations. A long-term goal is to apply these techniques to the study of planet-disk interactions. The short-term aim is to compare results with recent observations of circumstellar and circumbinary disks.
