The evolution of a differentially rotating and gravitationally unstable protogalactic gaseous disk is examined in the framework of a closed-system galaxy model. The star distribution is shown to tend to a quasi-exponential law provided that the characteristic time determined by viscosity is comparable to the characteristic time of star formation and provided that the distribution of heavy elements has a negative gradient.
