Analysis of observations of CH Cyg during the 1984-1985 fade of the hot component indicates that, if this star accretes material from the cool M6 primary more slowly and its bolometric luminosity drops, its effective temperature and Lyman-continuum flux may nevertheless rise. Accordingly, when it is at minimum light the hot source will begin significantly to ionize the gaseous envelope surrounding the binary system, enlarging the corresponding H II region and raising the 15-GHz flux density to the observed value of 35 mJy.
