The adiabatic invariant is shown to be conserved through the whole polar column of the neutron star. In the strong magnetic field of pulsars the smoothing process of particles longitudinal and transversal momentum components is therefore highly slowed down. The interface plasma magnetic field is shown to be almost always stable due to the presence of a strong gradient of magnetic field.
