Once every eight years, Venus is placed favourably at inferior conjunction for observation from northern latitudes. During a window of time around the conjunction, Venus may be viewed as an evening star and as a morning star on the same day. This essay describes the inferior conjunction of 3 April 1985 and the orbital resonance of Venus and the Earth that causes the regular recurrence of such favourable conjunctions and other phenomena.
