Satellite radiance data are used to compile monthly mean contour maps
for the 0.005 mb and 0.001 mb constant pressure surfaces. Aspects of the
seasonal and spatial distribution of the geopotential height fields are
discussed. Zonal geostrophic wind speeds are calculated from the zonal
mean heights.
