In the local universe, measurements of the total baryon content in stars, atomic and molecular hydrogen, and clusters fall a factor of two to four below the baryon density derived from observed light-element ratios and nucleosynthesis arguments. A possible hiding place for these missing baryon is in the warm/hot gas at intermediate temperatures, T=105}-10{7K. We present predictions of the O VII and O VIII soft X-ray line emission from this gas calculated using new hydrodynamical simulations. We discuss the possibility of detecting this signature using the Chandra X-ray Observatory and describe requirements for future missions dedicated to O VII and O VIII emission detection.
