A model for the color-magnitude effect in star observations with astrolabes is presented. The light curve of a black body is used to investigate interstellar, atmospheric, and instrumental attenuations. The curve of light entering the receptor system is determined. It is shown that the variations of the zenith distance errors may be as large as 0.3 arcsec.
