Multi wavelength observations of 3C 273 started in 1983. Since then data have been obtained from the radio end of the spectrum to the X-rays at more or less regular intervals. The sampling of the radio, near IR, visible and UV domains has greatly improved since 1985 and 1986, allowing useful crosscorrelation analysis of the different components. A wide variety of behaviours is shown, even within single wavebands. The main emerging global features are a first link between thermal (UV) and non-thermal (radio) activities, a strong decoupling of the X-ray emission from all other emission components, a close connection between the UV and optical light curves (excluding the nonthermal flaring activity) and the stability of the quiescent near infrared emission.
