Black Holes: Accretion Disks
Scientific paper
The evolution of black-hole accretion disks is investigated by considering both the thin-disk accretion and the Blandford-Znajek (B-Z) process. It is pointed out that the black hole spin (represented by the dimensionless angular momentum a* of a black hole) is an important parameter indicating the evolutionary characteristics of a black-hole accretion disk. Three characteristics values of a* are obtained: 1) aI* ≍ 0.983 indicates the upper limit imposed upon a* of the central black hole in the case of thin-disk accretion and the B-Z process: 2) aII* ≍ 0.940 corresponds to the minimum of the inner marginal radius rms of black-hole accretion disk; 3) aIII* ≍ 0.824 corresponds to the maximum of radio loudness of active galactic nuclei.
