The correlation of cometary events with solar activity is weak. The correlation means that both the comets and the geomagnetic field are influenced by the same source, that means, the space plasma environment of heliosphere has taken a considerable turbulence. The author has discussed the encounter between the plasma tail of a comet and the earth's magnetosphere. He shows that the plasma tail can directly cause the geomagnetic storm in this case.
