An emission feature has been detected in the near IR spectrum of comet Halley on March 31, 1986. The authors detected a feature centered at 3.37 μ, with a full-width at half-maximum of 0.07 μ. If this feature is due to CH-bearing molecules, their production rate is in the range of 1028s-1. Weaker emissions appear at 3.5 and 3.6 μ, possibly due to H2CO.
