It is shown from detailed statistical equilibrium calculations of the 12C13C molecule that the interpretation of the observed intensities of Swan bands of normal and the isotopic molecule of C2 in terms of the abundance ratio of 12C and 13C is a reasonable one. The determination of the isotopic ratio 12C/13C which is based on the analysis of low resolution spectra of (1, 0) Swan band of the isotopic feature occurring at 4745 Å, is uncertain due to blending of NH2 lines. The author has shown that the blending problem can greatly be avoided through the profile analysis of the isotopic feature. The synthetic profile of (0, 0) Swan band of the isotopic feature is also compared with the observations on comet West.
