Post-perihelion observations of the 1667 MHz OH line in comet Halley are reported. Using a 30-m antenna of the Instituto Argentino de Radioastronomía (IAR), P/Halley was detected from March 22 to April 30, 1986. Strong absorption by the OH in the coma was observed during occultation of galactic background radio sources. The daily monitoring has revealed outbursts with variations in the content of gas of up to a factor of 2.7 in 24 - 48 hours. Three OH bursts lasting six days each were observed. The observations are consistent with discrete and anisotropic release of gas toward the coma, and with the estimated lifetimes of the H2O and OH.
