A radio continuum survey of the Galactic center is carried out at 20cm using the VLA in its compact C and D array-configurations. The high dynamic range image shows roughly the inner 6(0) by 0.5(0) (l by b) of the Galactic center region with a spatial resolution of 13'' by 13'' and 30'' by 30''. The well-known sources in the field include Sgr A, the Arc, Sgr B, Sgr C, Sgr D, SNR G359.1-0.5, the Snake, the Mouse, SNR G0.9+0.1, M8, M20 and a number of new cometary HII regions as well as new extended thermal and nonthermal sources. The images are sensitive to features with a wide range of angular scales. The wide field imaging technique is used to construct a mosaic of about 33 overlapping pointings. Preliminary results of this survey will be presented.
