A three-dimensional general circulation model of Uranus’ atmosphere has been developed with the goal of exploring the influence of ortho-para hydrogen conversion, water and hydrogen sulfide latent heat release, and seasonally-varying insolation on the dynamics and relating these effects to observations of cloud location, cloud activity, and latitudinal variation of microwave brightness temperatures. The model calculates the seasonal and spatial variation of winds, temperatures, hydrogen para-fraction, and mixing ratios of trace species, hydrogen sulfide, and water between the 400-bar and 5-mbar pressure levels, allowing interaction between constituent transport, radiation, dynamics, and latent heat effects. The model's formulation and preliminary results will be presented. This work is supported by the NASA Outer Planets Research Program.
