The dynamics of fictitious bodies located near the secular resonances ν16 and ν5 in the asteroidal belt are investigated by numerical integrations over 1 Myr. Jupiter and Saturn are the only perturbing planets. Hypotheses by Wetherill and Williams concerning the delivery of meteorites from the ν5 resonance and concerning the high inclinations of Apollo-type asteroids due to the ν16 resonance are supported. The results allow to make quantitative statements about these hypotheses. In case of the ν16 resonance three different regions for secular resonant motion are found similar to the case of mean motion resonance: libration, inner and outer circulation. Transitions between these three regions occur. On the other hand, in case of the ν5 resonance only librators and outer circulators are found.
