The velocity-distance relation in the very nearby extragalactic field is investigated for a sample of 48 galaxies with true distance moduli in the short scale. The effect of the deceleration due to the mass of the Local Group is small; it is negligible beyond 2.5 - 3 Mpc. Deviations from linearity at small distance give an extreme upper limit of the mass of the Local Group, MLG, of 1013M_sun; and a probable range of 5×1011M_sun; - 5×1012M_sun; for MLG. The mean Hubble ratio is found to be ≡75 km s-1Mpc-1. The low value of the Hubble ratio at small distance compared with that of more distant objects is not due to the Local Group deceleration. If the line-of-sight dispersion of residual velocities is not biased by the cut-off in velocity, its value is σ(V) ≈ 50 - 60 km s-1.
