Over the last quarter century, the calibration of the extragalactic distance scale as embodied in the Hubble Constant, has engendered a lively debate. As the millennium draws to a close, due primarily to significant advances in imaging nearby galaxies both from the ground and with the Hubble Space Telescope, the community is reaching a convergence on this issue. This panel discussion will explore the issues remaining in the debate and the consequences of measured local and global value of H_0 for cosmology. How well to we really know H_0 and how well do we have to know it for cosmological studies?
