The generation of statistically "fair" samples of the universe requires the simulation of large space regions of the order of several hundreds of Mpc in view of the current observational situation. On the other hand, ambitious models for the formation of large-scale structure have to include, at least on a phenomenological level, the physics of the formation of a galaxy and its halo on scales of at most a few hundreds of kpc. In order to construct a link of large-scale distributions of galaxies to galactic scales, we propose to treat high spatial resolution calculations based on semi-analytical models for the formation of large-scale structure, which allow for the realization of this link in 3D.
