A scenario suggested by the peculiar radio properties of BL Lac objects is developed. In this scenario, a relativistic beam is emitted from the central parts of a twisted accretion disk and propagates toward the observer through matter flowing from the outer parts of the disk to the extended large-scale structure. Some observational data which appear to support the proposed scenario are discussed: namely, the increasing average misalignment angle between parsec and kiloparsec scale radio jets from OVV quasars to type 2 and type 1 BL Lacs.
