The proper motions of stars in the Orion Association are found from the analysis of positions from three epochs over a period of 100 years. Using an overlapping plate technique for the reduction of the data, the proper motions of these stars are determined with very high precision. Previous work that studied proper motions of associations did not make use of these techniques and used several other simplifying assumptions (not used in this analysis) that limited the precision of their results. this work was undertaken with the support of the Society of Sigma Xi, the Florida Space Consortium, the McCormick Observatory at the University of Virginia and the University of Minnesota.
