Three relatively unexplored models for the origin of gamma-ray bursters (GRBs) are discussed. Each idea is somewhat whimsical, ad-hoc, and flawed. Certainly they cannot all be correct, and most probably none of them are. As there is currently no consensus on a model of the progenitors of GRBs, though, it is hoped that they will add insight to the problem. After each model is presented it is critiqued and possible observational tests are discussed.
