Millisecond pulsars provide a means of detecting extra--solar planet mass bodies, as evidenced by the recent observations of PSR 1257+12. Most known millisecond pulsars are in globular clusters, we consider some of the possibilities and restrictions the globular cluster environment places on scenarios for pulsars to acquire planetary mass companions. In particular, the low metallicity of globular clusters may inhibit planet formation around pulsars, while the high stellar density limits the lifetime of planets around pulsars. Cluster pulsars provide a promising method of constraining scenarios for planet formation around pulsars, and may provide an indirect way of detecting planets around main--sequence stars, as planets formed around solar type stars may be ``scavenged'' by pulsars during close encounters. One cluster pulsar has observed timing anomalies consistent with the presence of a sub--jovian planet in a wide orbit about the neutron star. The system is consistent with scenarios in which the planet was scavenged during an exchange encounter with a turn--off mass main--sequence star.
