The presence of physisorbed ices covering the refractory interstellar grains in diverse regions of interstellar space, in our Galaxy, has been detected more than three decades ago. In the past years, low and medium resolution spectroscopic astrophysical surveys in the infrared of dust in dense clouds and the circumstellar dust around young sources have allowed to follow the chemical evolution of solid matter, either in the pre-stellar clouds or surrounding young stellar objects (YSOs) still embedded in their parental dust and gas cloud.
