The present paper is concerned with dynamic systems consisting of a flattened ellipsoid of rotation and central configurations situated in the equatorial plane of the ellipsoid and revolving as solid bodies around the center of the system. Existence and stability theorems are reviewed. It turns out that the main properties of these systems are analogous to those of S- and Sb-galaxies having patchy rings and ring-like patterns.
