Galaxies, Star Formation Rate
Scientific paper
The relation between the molecular gas density and the star formation rate for nearby spiral galaxies located at several hundred to one thousand parsecs is studied. A revised star-formation law is presented based on recent observational data. The obtained results are explained by various physical processes. Results from a recent observation using the NRO 45m telescope is also shown. The effects of galactic bars on star-formation rate at the centers of nearby galaxies is discussed. Data from ASTE are also presented.
