The subject of astronomy is extraordinarily wide, as is evidenced in questions asked by my students at evening classes. No matter how much I have read amongst the vast number of books available, their enquiries continue to send me back to libraries or the World Wide Web for answers. Each time, in digging out the facts, I feel I have also learnt something and this is a vital part of our mutual interest in astronomy. Of course sometimes there is no answer, which many find difficult to accept but in our subject there are still so many things we cannot explain which again makes astronomy intriguing.
