We have used the Two Micron All Sky Survey to identify about 4000 galaxies with significant 2um excesses (with nuclei having H-K>0.6). By using the Extended and Point Source Catalogs, our coverage of the sky more than 20 degrees out of the Galactic Plane is complete down to a nuclear K magnitude of 13.5. Followup spectroscopy at Lick and European Southern Observatories, and with the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, confirms that 3/4 of these are Seyfert galaxies, or quasars. Most of the non-Seyfert contaminants are highly inclined spirals, with heavily reddened nuclei. Since fewer than half had previously been recognized as AGN, the 2MASS Seyferts will greatly help us in determining the full population of local AGN, independent of optical color selection.
