The sharp X-ray surface brightness discontinuities in the ICM known as cold fronts are typically much smaller than the electron mean free path and are characterized by a jumps in temperature and gas density maintaining the gas pressure continuous across the boundaries. They can be generated by multiple mechanisms, including major head-on mergers, off-center mergers, interaction with the cD. Analysis of SN type enrichment of the metals in the intracluster gas can provide fundamental insights in discriminating these multiple mechanisms for individual clusters. I will show preliminary results of the application of this method to some classic cold front clusters.
