It is shown that the asymmetry of orbital light curves in the range from X-ray to infrared, which is observed in AM Herculis-type objects, may be qualitatively explained if the accretion column is inclined to the white dwarf's surface. In this model the asymmetry may be observed, if the column's axis is not crossing the rotation axis of the white dwarf and its base is eclipsed by the compact star. The asymmetry of the radial-velocity and polarization curves also may be explained by the inclination of the column. The results are compared with the observations of polars.
