UBVR CCD frames of the LMC star cluster H4 have resulted in V, (B-V), and/or (V-R) photometry of 3096 stars and (U-B) colors of 310 stars. It is concluded that (1) (m-M)0 = 18.1±0.3 on the basis of comparisons with NGC 2420 and the theoretical isochrones of VandenBerg; (2) E(B-V) = 0.07±0.03; (3) [Fe/H] = -0.7±0.3; (4) the age of H4 is (2.5±0.4)x109yr using the present modulus, or (1.5±0.3)x109yr for (m-M)0,LMC = 18.7; (5) the cluster seems to be dynamically relaxed; and (6) the field stars around H4 range in age from ⪉0.6x109 to ⪆5x109yr.
