The powerful radio source 4C 29.50, which is identified with a quasar at redshift 1.927, has been mapped with a variety of instruments, frequencies, and resolutions. The highest resolution is 30 mas, corresponding to about 150 pc at this redshift. The projected overall dimensions of the radio source are subgalactic, and the structure is very distorted. There are apparent sudden deflections of a jet emerging from the quasar core, and it is proposed that these are due to interaction with a dense, clumpy interstellar eenvironment. The great power of the source and the small scales on which the deflections occur yield constraints on the properties of this environment.
