Measurement of radial velocities of stars less advanced than spectral type 5 is proposed. Accuracy on the order of 4 km/sec is possible, using objective prisms. Analysis of the plates gives stellar coordinates and spectral type, according to the MK system, but without luminosity. Stars which are too isolated can be measured with a slit spectrograph. Measurement is automated, enabling all stars of magnitude 10 in the Hipparcos program to be measured within 6 years.
