Various methods of comparing and testing resonant lump coefficients are reviewed, which consist of the use of lumped coefficients for variable inclination, the application of rough symmetry of the lumped values, and tests of the lumped coefficients derived from a one-day resonance using relative coefficients from a two-day resonance. Lumped coefficients observed from resonant variations are compared with those calculated from various earth models, and it is suggested that a bank of a few very precise observed lumped coefficients for each order be established and that the coefficients should not be included in new earth models and only used for calculations. Numerical examples are presented.
