X-Ray Sources, X-Ray Bursts

Scientific paper

Our balloon-borne Ge gamma-ray telescope has recently been flown for a third time over Alice Springs, Australia to further study the galactic center 511 keV positron annihilation line. The source was found to be in an off or low state. A preliminary flux estimate of 0+/-4×10-4 photons cm-2 s-1 has been made. This result is discussed in the context of other observations and theoretical models.
