The quest to discover the nature of Dark Energy has raised a number of issues of data analysis and technique which have wider applicability, so here I will focus on some general discovery techniques. In this review, I cover a number of topics including recent advances in parameter estimation and model selection, as well as reviewing techniques for dealing with data with near-singular correlation properties. In addition, I look at survey design methods for model selection, with an example to distinguish Dark Energy from beyond-Einstein gravity theories.
