The article reports a program for deriving contour skymaps from spark chamber track directions and intensity measurements obtained in the ESA satellite COS-B gamma-ray astronomy experiment. Photon arrival times are used to advantage in pulsar studies. Gamma rays of over 30 MeV energy are measured in the experiment. Pulsation of the Crab and Vela pulsars is studied on the basis of a timing analysis of the data collected. Large-scale gamma-ray emission from the galactic plane is studied for evidence on interactions of cosmic ray nuclei with interstellar matter, bremsstrahlung from galactic electrons, Compton interaction of galactic electrons and starlight, and the relict 2.7 K cosmic background.
