Astronomical theories for the origin of the solar system are examined, taking into account a theory proposed by McCrea who sees the growth of the primordial sun going by the capture of large minor condensations within the primordial nebula. Eventually the condensations are captured into an orbit about the sun where they accrete into planets. Meteorites have the same solidification ages as the earth, about 4,600 million years. They most closely resemble the sun in composition. Attention is given to the significance of a study of the cosmic dust reaching the earth's surface and aspects of planetary condensation. The equilibrium condensation model that explains so much about the meteorites appears to offer also possibilities for the planets.
