The effects of the spherical aberration in one of the mirrors on the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) are discussed, noting possible ways of fixing the problems associated with the aberration. Consideration is given to the possibility of installing a second generation Wide Field/Planetary Camera, the revision of the observation schedule to compensate for the starlight that leaks away into the aberrant halo, and the process of refining the astrometric interstellar distance scale. Several observing programs using the HST are reviewed and the impact of the spherical aberration on the images in these programs is evaluated.
