Magnetic fields are shown to produce qualitative changes of the sources of solar differential rotation rather than quenching them, as is usually assumed. Additional equatorward flux of angular momentum arises under the influence of toroidal magnetic fields. The possibility of interpreting the torsional oscillations of the sun as a result of magnetic-field influence on turbulent angular-momentum fluxes is discussed.
