We have initiated a survey that will image in X-rays, using the Chandra X-ray observatory, a substantial fraction of the Galactic Bulge by covering a pair of 6 x 1 square degrees centered at 1.5 degrees above and below the Galactic Center. We call this project the Galactic Bulge Survey (GBS). Thanks to a careful design, this survey optimizes the ability to characterize X-ray sources using optical follow-up. The GBS will provide the first homogeneous sample of bulge sources accessible for study at optical bands and it has the full potential of discovering hundreds of quiescent low-mass X-ray binaries. In this poster we present the current status and first resuts of the GBS.
