This paper contains the optical position of the radio star Alpha Scorpii (FK 4 616), obtained from the 45 deg zenith distance observations with the astrolabe at Valinhos, at the mean epoch 1985.30. For the sake of comparison with other radio and optical published results, the reduction was also made in the IAU 1964 System of Constants. The results are coincident, within the published standard errors, with those obtained with the Danjon astrolabe at Santiago de Chile, the photoelectric meridian circles at Bordeaux and Tokyo, and radio interferometric results obtained with the VLA.
