The results of spectroscopic observations of the nearby active galaxy NGC 2655 are presented. The gas velocity field inside 2 kpc radius is unusual and indicates the presence of a dynamically distinct, rigidly rotating nucleus with a radius of 0.5 kpc and a mass of 10 to the 10th solar masses, as well as strong radial gas motions outside this dynamically distinct nucleus. The exciting mechanism of the nuclear emission-line spectrum is photoionization by a central nonthermal source of radiation; the ionization level of gas is between that of LINERs and Seyferts 2.
